Community Leaders Rene Amirault and Colin Patterson Announced as Co-Chairs for KidSport Calgary and Area’s 30th Anniversary Sneakers and Dreamers Gala

KidSport Calgary is thrilled to announce Rene Amirault and Colin Patterson as the co-chairs for our highly anticipated Sneakers and Dreamers Gala, So ALL Kids Can Play. This milestone event will celebrate three decades of breaking down financial barriers and enabling thousands of local kids to experience the joy of sports.

Rene Amirault, a prominent business leader and dedicated philanthropist, has long been a supporter of KidSport Calgary, making him a perfect fit for this important role. Colin Patterson, Calgary Flames alumnus, Stanley Cup Champion and long-time KidSport advocate, brings his passion for youth development and sports to the event.  Together, they embody the values and mission of KidSport Calgary, promising to make this gala a memorable celebration of KidSport Calgary’s impact on the community over the past 30 years.

The Sneakers and Dreamers Gala will take place on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at the WinSport Event Centre. Attendees can look forward to an inspiring evening featuring live entertainment, heartfelt stories of impact from families who have directly benefited from KidSport’s support, exciting silent auction and raffle, and other opportunities to support KidSport Calgary and Area’s mission of giving all kids a chance to play for the next 30 years.

Rene Amirault expressed his excitement for the event, stating, “The time has never been greater to help Calgary’s community needs. Sport participation can have a huge impact on our children’s social, mental and physical well-being.”

Colin Patterson also shared his enthusiasm as well: “When I heard about the Sneakers and Dreamers Gala, I thought it would be a great way to continue our Alumni’s involvement with KidSport Calgary and help raise more money so more kids could play.”

Jeremy Gackle, KidSport Calgary and Area Board Chair, added his anticipation, saying, “As someone who benefited from financial support as a child, I understand how critical access to sport is for every kid, regardless of their circumstances. That’s why I’m passionate about supporting KidSport Calgary. I believe in creating opportunities for children to experience the lifelong benefits of sport, helping to develop not just healthy kids, but healthy, resilient adults.”

KidSport Calgary invites everyone to join in this special celebration and help make a difference in the lives of children across our community. This gala is not just a fundraiser but a chance to reflect on the impact KidSport Calgary has made on over 80,000 young athletes over the past 30 years.  By attending or contributing, you are helping to ensure that every child has the opportunity to lace up a pair of sneakers and chase their dreams.
